Jade Hameister

Jade is 23 years old, and lives in Melbourne, Australia.

Jade graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from Monash University inOctober 2023, and from March 2023 to June 2024 she worked as an InvestmentAnalyst at Equis Australia, South-East Asia’s largest renewable energyinfrastructure developer.  

In April 2016 at the age of 14, she became the youngest person inhistory to ski to the North Pole from anywhere outside the last degree,unsupported and unassisted.

In June 2017, aged 15, she became the youngest woman to complete the 550km crossing of Greenland, the second largest ice cap on the planet unsupportedand unassisted.

In January 2018, aged 16, Jade skied 600km from the coast of Antarcticato the South Pole unsupported and unassisted, after an epic 37-day journey viaa new route through the Transantarctic Mountains and up the Kansas Glacier,from the Amundsen Coast.

In finishing this journey, Jade set a number of world records including:the youngest human to complete the Polar Hat-Trick (North & South Poles,and Greenland); and the first Australian woman in history to ski coast to SouthPole unsupported and unassisted.

Jade was recognised by the Australian Geographic Society as YoungAdventurer of the Year 2016, and again recognised as Young Adventurer of theYear in 2018 with the award presented by Prince Harry.

In the 2019 Queens Birthday Honours, Jade was awarded an Order ofAustralia Medal for service to Polar Exploration.

In 2016 and 2018 Jade’s polar expeditions were captured in two NationalGeographic Channel documentaries that aired in 170 countries, with a focus onclimate change.

In 2018 Pan Macmillan released a book that Jade authored seeking toeducate young people on climate change (also published in the USA).

Jade is Youth Advisor at The Villars Institute, a global climateinstitute based in Switzerland, with the goal of accelerating the transition ofthe global economy to net zero. She is also working as a volunteer with theSecuring Antarctica’s Environmental Future (SAEF) research program at MonashUniversity.
